Privacy Policy

Syllanest - AI Study Planner ("Syllanest") is an iOS app that turns course syllabi into an organized study plan. This policy describes what the app and its companion service actually do with data. Syllanest has no accounts and no sign-in.

What stays on your device

Your courses, deadlines, study sessions, reminder settings and preferences are stored only on your iPhone or iPad, in the app's own storage. They are not uploaded, synchronized or backed up by Syllanest. Deleting the app removes them; you can also delete them at any time from Settings → Delete local data.

Reminders are local notifications scheduled by iOS on your device. Syllanest asks for notification permission only when you turn reminders on.

Syllabus import

When you import a syllabus, the text you pasted or extracted from a PDF or text file is sent over an encrypted connection to Syllanest's own service, together with your app language, the current date and your time zone so dates can be resolved. The service passes that text to an AI model through Syllanest's own AI gateway to find dated items, and returns the result to the app for you to review. Nothing is saved to your plan until you confirm it.

The service does not keep the syllabus text or the model's answer. It keeps only a record of the import: when it happened, its language, the number of characters sent, whether it succeeded and how many items were returned.

The anonymous install record

The first time you import a syllabus, the app creates a random install identifier and a signing key that never leave the app's secure storage except as a public key. The service stores that identifier, the public key, the platform and app version, and the time of first and last use. Every request to the service is signed with this key so that only your device can act on its records. There is no link between this identifier and your name, email address, Apple ID or any other account.

Abuse protection

To keep the service available and to bound the cost of AI processing, the service counts imports per install and per day, keeps short-lived request counters per install and per network address (in one-minute windows kept for about an hour), and keeps single-use request identifiers for one day to reject replayed requests. These counters are used only for rate limiting.

Reports

If you report a wrong import, the app sends the report reason, the note you typed and the import's reference to the service. Your syllabus text is not sent again. Reports are stored so the developers can improve extraction and are linked only to the anonymous install record.

Web pages and the welcome tour

The welcome tour shown on first launch, and the Privacy, Terms, Support and About pages linked from Settings, are web pages served from Syllanest's own address. Loading them is an ordinary web request handled by the hosting provider, which processes standard connection details such as your IP address and user agent to deliver the page. Syllanest does not embed analytics, advertising or tracking in the app or on these pages.

What Syllanest does not do

• No analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and no cross-app tracking.
• No account, email address, name, contacts, location, photos or files other than the syllabus you choose to import.
• No sale or sharing of data with third parties beyond the hosting provider and the AI gateway that process the syllabus text on Syllanest's behalf.

The app checks once whether WhatsApp can be opened on the device, solely to decide whether to show a rating invitation on first launch. Nothing is sent and no data is read from WhatsApp.

Retention and deletion

• Local data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app.
• The anonymous install record, its import records, usage counters and reports are kept until you delete them. Settings → Delete server data removes them immediately; the identifier is retired and the app creates a new anonymous identity if you import again later.
• Request identifiers used for replay protection are kept for one day and rate-limit counters for about an hour.

Children

Syllanest is a general study tool. It does not request personal information and does not knowingly collect any from children.

Changes

If Syllanest's data practices change, this page will be updated to describe the new behavior before it takes effect.
